Intro to Zbrush

Course Overview

ZBrush is used as a digital sculpting tool to create high-resolution models up to millions of polygons, for use in movies, games, and animations. It is used by companies ranging from ILM to Electronic Arts. This course serves as an introduction to the Zbrush Navigation, Key Concepts, Palettes, Sculpting and Painting techniques.


Student Outcomes

  • Students will learn to navigate the Tools and Palettes in Zbrush, and the foundatiouns of Painting in 2.5 and 3D.
  • Introduction and Project Overview
  • Zbrush Interface
  • Key Concepts: Pixel (2D) vs. Pixol (2.5D)
  • Tools
  • Palettes
  • Creating Geometry
  • Subdividing your geometry
  • Brushes and settings
  • Students will be able to dive further down into Zbrush should they so choose, and into areas like Importing geometry into Zbrush, Creating Normal and Displacement maps.

Prerequisites

Some 3D package experience is necessary. All sessions include hands-on practice on Windows computers. This course is an introductory course and not suited for advanced 3D art professionals. Some experience with Windows computers required.
