Course Overview

This course is an overview of construction techniques using Image planes, key techniques for surface creation and scene organization in Maya. How do you organize and survey your scene. How Layers, Groups and parenting work together. Advanced duplication techniques for propagating a model throughout a scene. We take a look at some geometry creation methods used in conjuction with image palnes – creating Surfaces – Lofting, Extrusion, Revolving surfaces.


Student Outcomes 

  • Students will learn how to construct objects from reference, and especially using Surface bulding techniques, methods for propagating a model and methods for organizing a scene
  • Construction History, Attribute Editors
  • Scene organization – Outliner, Layers and groups
  • Surface modeling techniques – Lofting and Extrusion, Revolving surfaces
  • Working form reference – using Image Planes
  • By the end of the introduction, each student will be fully equipped to dive further down into professional techniques in Maya

Prerequisites

Some Maya experience is recommended. All sessions include hands-on practice on Windows computers. This course is an introductory course and not suited for advanced 3D Art professionals. Some experience with Windows computers required.
