
Course Overview
The focus of this course will be to go into more depth on the practices and methods for Modeling for Games.
Student Outcomes
- Students will learn Organic and Inorganic modeling methods, Polygon sculpting, cleaning up meshes and producing Game ready models, polygon reduction techniques
- Organic modeling methods – smoothing and meshsmooth
- Polygon sculpting
- Working with Subdivision surfaces and converting them to polygonal meshes
- Normals and Smoothing groups, backface culling
- Cleaning up meshes, history and freezing transformations
- Students will be able to dive further down into creating art for games should they so choose, and into advanced texturing, lighting and worldbuilding
Prerequisites
Some 3D package experience is necessary. All sessions include
hands-on practice on Windows computers. This course is an introductory
course and not suited for advanced 3D art professionals. Some experience
with Windows computers required.
